I’m glad you’ve found us! We’ve come a long way since we began our Hawaii network seven years ago. Hawaii NBCTs are making a difference across the state. Whether you are already an NBCT or just starting your journey, join us!
Together we are #NBCTstrong!
Our Mission: To advance the quality of teaching and learning through a collaborative network of NBCTs, candidates and other professionals, to connect network participants with teacher leadership opportunities, and to promote the sharing of ideas and expertise within our network through our partnerships with Hawaii Teacher Standards Board, Hawaii State Teachers Association and Kamehameha Schools.
Congratulations on obtaining your National Board Certification or renewing your National Board Certification. We are so proud of the hard work that you have put into achieving this recognition, especially as each of you were given unexpected situations due to the current pandemic. Please hold the date for our first Virtual National Board Certification Celebration. We are excited at the opportunity to celebrate and recognize all of our teachers together and all on the same day, April 19th at 5 pm. You should receive an email with this information soon!
This year’s celebration will be virtual. To help us prepare, we need all newly certified and those that renewed this year to send us the following information no later than April 12, 2021.

Aloha National Board Certified Teachers –
Congratulations on obtaining your National Board Certification or renewing your National Board Certification. We are so proud of the hard work that you have put into achieving this recognition, especially as each of you were given unexpected situations due to the current pandemic. I am reaching out again to ask that you hold the date for our first Virtual National Board Certification Celebration. We are excited at the opportunity to celebrate and recognize all of our teachers together and all on the same day, April 19th at 5 pm.
As mentioned this year’s celebration will be virtual. To help us prepare, we need all newly certified and those that renewed this year to send us the following information no later than April 12, 2021.
Presentation of Certificates Slideshow:
We need a photo of you. ( This photo can be in your classroom, at your school, with your family, enjoying your favorite past time, etc. Make it a picture that represents you!)
We also need a paragraph about you to use with the photo. (What are you accomplishments, your experience, and/or you passions as it pertains to teaching.) Please keep this information to one paragraph.
We are going to put together a video to show during the ceremony. We would like submissions of short videos that express what the certificate means to you or how the work will impact your teaching.
Video Requirements: 1-2 minutes long, recorded from phone or webcam. If you choose to do the video please record it with your phone horizontal not vertical
If we receive more than 5-6 videos, they may be compiled in a marketing video to inspire other teachers.
To submit the picture/paragraph and/or video please send to Diane Gibson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
You might be wondering how you and your family will be able to “attend” this virtual event. We want you to be celebrated by everyone who has supported you in this effort, so we will live stream the celebration on the Hawaii State Teachers Association Facebook Page and YouTube channel. This will allow access to the celebration regardless of where you or your support team are located. All of our livestreams are saved, so should someone miss the celebration, they can view it at a later date.
Please send your information soon! We want each of you included in the celebration. We are so proud of the work you have accomplished and we look forward to celebrating with you in April!

Why attend a Jump Start seminar? The first step toward successful National Board Certification is understanding the requirements and planning how to integrate them into your upcoming school year. Jump Start seminars are designed to help candidates understand and be successful by providing important information about the certification process, time to examine the component requirements, the opportunity to plan how to meet requirements, and time to draft and receive feedback on ideas for components-all in a supportive, constructive, and collegial environment.
For everyone’s safety, this summer’s NEA Jump Start will be virtual and spread out over two weeks. It is tentatively planned for the 3rd and 4th week of June. More details soon!
Pre-Registration is now open at bit.ly/2021VirtualJumpStart.
